Description
Sumi-e painting was developed in the XNUMXth century of Chinese calligraphy.
In the twelfth century, Zen monks brought the painting technique to Japan where even in our times, Sumi-e painting retains a strong influence on lifestyle. “Sumi” translates to “black ink” and “i” means not only “path” but also “painting”. With this it is simple and at the same time highly aesthetic drawings that consist of strong lines, in many cases fast and quickly sketched. With a lot of inner peace and meditative serenity, images are created that capture the existence and movement of a motif. That is why Sumi-e is not only an Asian painting technique, but also a form of spiritual relaxation therapy and is advancing in Europe.
