RAIMA ILLUSTRATION AND DESIGN CONTEST

El Raima calendar it has always been a unique piece, a tribute to art, creativity and commitment to our community. Until 2019, his image was selected through the Raima Illustration and Design Competition. However, between 2016 and 2018, with the extension works of our store from 2 to 6 floors, we put this initiative on hold. Thus, the Raima Calendar 2019 was a special illustration of our renovated building, symbolizing a new stage for Raima and consolidating our role as a benchmark for creativity and design in Barcelona.

From 2020, with the incorporation of the Nimura Room on the 4th floor as a platform for artists, the calendar has become a display of expression and talent that every year connects with current events in society, while maintaining the tradition and spirit that have always defined it. This evolution has made it possible to give visibility to new creators and strengthen our commitment to the artistic community and to Barcelona.

The Competition (1994 to 2016)

Parallel to our commercial activity, and in order to build a bridge between paper and the world of design, we decided to create in 1994 el RAIMA Illustration and Design Competition. Because we believe in what we do and yes, we set out to project the world of design everywhere and proudly promote the work of Fine Arts professionals in a city that is the hallmark of modernity, Art and Design.

Overcome more than ten editions (appointment is biannual) i more than 4.000 participants, the competition has been consolidated as one of the most important in the State, both for the number of participants and for the quality of the works presented and the endowment of the prizes (€ 5.000 for the first and € 2.500 for the second), without forgetting the great diffusion that each awarded work has, because it becomes the protagonist of the 20.000 calendars of collector that Raima publishes and spreads every year among its customers, suppliers, work team and families.

The theme that should inspire the works is always paper, accompanied by some "universal" motto such as Cinema, Science, Music or Sport. The technique is free, which greatly enriches the participation of designers, illustrators, visual artists, illustrators, etc. Of all ages and with quite different ideas and proposals and that is what we really like to find; creativity, passion and authenticity in every stroke.

The winning work is chosen by a Jury made up of professionals from Design, Fine Arts and Illustration. From the first call we have sought the endorsement of the competent authorities, so in that edition the rules were drafted in accordance with the rules of ICOGRADE (International Council of Graphic Design Associations) with the supervision of one of its founding members, Mr. Amand Domènech (also founder of the Association of Graphic Designers of the FAD, ADG / FAD and the Association for the Creation of the Official Association of Graphic Designers of Catalonia). We have the support of the main bodies in the field of Design and Fine Arts, FAD (Promotion of Arts and Design) and BCD (Barcelona Design Center) and a jury composed of professionals representing the different disciplines involved.

The RAIMA Group, therefore, creates a school and dynamizes the stationery sector while demonstrating and cultivating the respect and passion it feels for Culture and Art, acting as a launching pad for designers, illustrators and creatives. of Barcelona and around the world.

Behind each edition, the entire RAIMA team works with passion and dedication to make the Contest a real spectacle. Sales, Visual, Logistics, Human Resources, Marketing and Communication, Public Relations and Heads of Department. We are all involved in every detail of the event, from the location, decoration, dissemination and promotion to the preparation of invitations, the exhibition of works, lighting and music and in short, all the details needed to make each event a sensational and unforgettable experience. That is why we want to present you a small collection of unpublished photos where you can see the teamwork, the eagerness and emotion that is hidden behind each work.

RECOGNITION

Because the Contest is known as the biannual call for the most important Illustration and Design in the state, in 2014, the Generalitat de Catalunya awarded Raima the prize to The best business initiative in Innovation recognizing in this way, the trajectory and effort of a company that encourages and promotes the Plastic Art and the Design.
